Sharon Smith

COO, WORK Inc.

Sharon Smith is a member of the SourceAmerica Board of Directors.

For over 37 years, Smith has worked in the nonprofit sector developing and implementing service models that promote the employment and support of people with disabilities. Smith started her career as a direct service professional with WORK Inc.’s residential department, helping people transition out of state institutions to community group homes. She then went on to spend many years expanding WORK Inc.’s Ability One contracts and leading the organizations competitive employment programs.

In January of 2022, she became the Chief Executive Officer at the organization after serving as the COO for 15 years. She has led WORK Inc. through three, five-year strategic plans that have facilitated the transformation and growth of the organization’s programs and services. New initiatives include services to promote dating and relationship building for individuals with autism, an innovative Pay For Success employment pilot, expansion of family support services, and a collaboration with three sister agencies to develop immersive and interactive virtual training environments that can benefit people with disabilities. In addition, Smith continues to serve on the Massachusetts statewide service delivery workgroup charged with developing future forward services.

Smith holds a Master of Social Work and a Master of Business Administration from Boston University.
