2020 has been a challenging year for the world. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, individuals and organizations have faced new obstacles such as remote work, adjustment to virtual classrooms, the loss of jobs, and more. But we have also found silver linings in moments of crisis. There have been great acts of resiliency and communities have come together to support one another. SourceAmerica has seen the fruition of these efforts through the hard work and dedication of the more than 700 nonprofit agencies within our network, the people with disabilities employed through them, and our employees.  

It is during the most difficult times that people find strength. At a time when unemployment numbers have increased exponentially, the nonprofit agencies within our network have continued to find new ways to create job opportunities for people with disabilities. Without hesitation, they responded to contract opportunities and supported a national pandemic response. People with disabilities employed through these nonprofits have provisioned U.S. Navy ships, pivoted operations to making personal protective equipment (PPE), ensured federal buildings were cleaned per guidelines set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, provided food services at military installations across the nation, and more. Deemed to be essential employees by the federal government, they have remained dedicated to ensuring federal operations continue safely. Their hard work during this time deserves to be recognized and serves as a reminder that people with disabilities are highly capable.  

SourceAmerica takes pride in our ability to be of service to those who serve others. That’s why we pivoted many of our in-person trainings to virtual events, providing an opportunity for our nonprofit network to collaborate with us and each other. Additionally, we created a Resource Order Center, where nonprofit agencies can acquire PPE, such as surgical masks, nitrile gloves and face shields for their employees. Heading into 2021, we will continue to find new ways to support our network and those they serve.
