In-House Mail Management Professional
QWE Practice Guideline: 223 – Provide employee training and development opportunities that assist the individual in attaining the skills needed to advance both within and outside of the company
Target group: Any individual with mail room experience looking to gain management skills and training in the in-house mail management profession.
Practice Summary
The Certified Mail Manager certification from In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association is recognized as the standard of proficiency for the in-house mail management profession. This certification encourages professional growth and the attainment of technical and managerial knowledge.
Practice Implementation
- Review the certification website and ensure the certification objectives meet your needs
- Review the application process and download all required documentation at least 30 days in advance of submitting your application
- Review the eligibility requirements and ensure your documentation proves the following
- Minimum of 5 years of mail management experience
- Pledge to adhere to Certified Mail Manager Code of Ethics
- Three letters of recommendation
- Submit your application to the IPMA headquarters and include all required documentation, including the appropriate registration fee
- Once your application is approved, you will complete an examination
- The examination can be completed online during IPMA’s annual conference or at a testing facility
- IPMA will send you identification and admission documents that are required to enter the exam

- By enhancing their skill set and obtaining a certification, individuals increase the number of job opportunities they can access. This can also improve their confidence and willingness to pursue more in their career.
